Lee Corso Holds Court At Team Selection Committee Kickoff Dinner

An Orlando tradition continued on Monday, September 8 as ESPN personality and college football icon Lee Corso joined Florida Citrus Sports for the annual Team Selection Committee Kickoff Dinner. Each year, the dinner is one of the most highly-anticipated events on the Florida Citrus Sports calendar, as members and VIP guests are treated to the unfiltered thoughts of "The Coach", one of the most endearing figures in the college football world.

Local sports media and 2014 FCSports Howard Palmer Award winner Paul Kennedy served as the master of ceremonies for the dinner and the straight man for Corso, who offered opinions on a wide range of topics from the College Football Playoff to the Heisman Trophy race.

Citrus Bowl Progress Continues On; First Video Board Is Installed

The new Orlando Citrus Bowl is materializing with each passing day. Perhaps one of the most exciting signs of progress this month is the construction of the first of three video display boards that will eventually be positioned throughout the stadium.

Tickets for the 35th Annual Florida Blue Florida Classic, the traditional showdown between historically black institutions, Bethune-Cookman University and Florida A&M University, are now on sale to the general public. Notably, this year’s Classic will be the first game played in the reconstructed Orlando Citrus Bowl.

Tickets to America’s preeminent HBCU football game may be purchased at Ticketmaster.com, at the Amway Center box office, by phone (1.800.745.3000) or any Ticketmaster outlet. This year’s game will be played on Saturday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. while being televised nationally on ESPN Classic. Ticket prices start at $15, while other seats are available at great prices ($27 goal line or lower-deck corner, $37 end zone, $52 sideline).

FCSports Chief Customer Officer Shannon Clark was included in the Orlando Business Journal's list of "C-Level" Award winners for 2014. She was recognized in the nonprofit category as a COO and included in the OBJ's luncheon celebrating all honorees held on Friday, July 18.

Scott Herring, a former finance executive with the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies, has been named Chief Financial Officer at Florida Citrus Sports, the not-for profit membership-based organization that runs the Capital One Bowl and Russell Athletic Bowl.

Herring returns to Central Florida after two-plus seasons with the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, where he served as the team’s Vice President of Finance. He replaces Dennis Braziel, who joined the FCSports staff in 2007, after serving the organization in various key roles as a member. Braziel, who was named Orlando Business Journal CFO of the Year in 2011, recently married and will be relocating to South Florida.
