Wherever he was at 10:29 a.m. on January 29th, Mick Jagger probably felt a mysterious tug of nostalgia. That’s when the countdown started and couple of hundred people at the Citrus Bowl looked toward the north.


Talk about an exploding scoreboard. This one really did have its legs blown out. As it crashed to the ground, fireworks went off and “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC blared over the loud speakers.

US Open Champion Justin Rose, Ron Dayne and George Rogers All Join Florida Citrus Parade Lineup

One week from today, a Central Florida tradition returns to Downtown Orlando when the Florida Citrus Parade winds down Orange Avenue and back up Rosalind Avenue on its way to Lake Eola Park. This year, a pair of Heisman winners join an Orlando resident and reigning champion golfer as the headline talent.

The parade steps off at 10:00 a.m. next Monday, December 30.

Whitley Writes: Tampa's National Championship Future Means Orlando Is Closer Than You Think

Since envy is one of the Seven Deadly Sins, I have nothing but nice things to say about Tampa getting the world’s biggest college football game.

Our friends to the west have secured the 2017 College Football Playoffs National Championship Game. It will hopefully be a smashing success. But when the announcement came Monday, I couldn’t help wondering what it meant for Orlando.
